The Afrimma Awards & Music Festival 2017, or Annual African Muzik Magazine, is one of the most significant annual events in African entertainment. This year the celebration took place in Dallas, Texas, and millions of Nigerian music fans were glued to their screens, not wanting to miss anything.

1. Tiwa Sawage
One of the most anticipated appearances at AFRIMMA 2017 was, of course, Tiwa Sawage. In addition to having a cute moment with her husband on stage, Tiwa also dazzled in her red carpet outfit, which was a beautiful black tulle dress with an open back, made even better looking by Tiwa’s adorable blonde bob.
2. Kamaru Usman
Luckily, the guest list of AFRIMA Awards was so diverse that even renowned athletes graced the red carpet. Kamaru Usman, Nigeria’s iconic boxing champion, decided to make a fashion statement with his gold embroidered jacket, which instantly gave the boxer a truly regal look.
3. Miss Nigeria USA
The winner of this year’s Miss Nigeria USA contest, the stunning Idara Inokon, proudly promotes Nigerian beauty everywhere she can, including the AFRIMMA red carpet. For this appearance, Idara wore a gorgeous white lace dress with an off-shoulder cut and flared sleeves, which are two of the biggest fashion trends of 2017.
4. Emma Nyra
Everyone was hoping for Emma Nyra to make an appearance at AFRIMMA 2017 since she has ties both to Nigeria and Texas, where the ceremony took place. Fans were definitely not disappointed by Emma’s choice of an outfit – this sequinned green jumpsuit is mermaid chic at its finest, and just look at this gold statement necklace!
5. Anderson Obiagwu and Ifeoma Nzimiro Obiagwu
The true power couple of Nigerian music and entertainment wouldn’t miss an event as big as AFRIMMA 2017 for the world, and their choice of red carpet outfits is a thing of beauty as well. Ifeoma’s red brocade off-shoulder dress, paired with Anderson’s navy and teal embroidered blazer, create a magical combination.
6. Victoria Kimani
Even though Nigerian music stars turned out to be the biggest winners of the night, other African countries were beautifully represented as well – for example, by Victoria Kimani, one of the most promising Kenyan music stars. Victoria went for a mini metallic leather dress with a belt, and it’s safe to say that her choice paid off.
7. Peter Lentini
The Lagos-born Peter Lentini does a lot of good work for popularizing Nigerian culture around the world, and he happily attended the AFRIMMA red carpet in one of the best examples of men’s Ankara fashion we’ve ever seen. His lady companion looked dazzling in her Ankara jacket over a mini velvet dress as well.
