76-year old Omkari Singh, married to 89-year-old Charan, is believed to be the oldest mother of a 6-year-old in the world.
In 2008 this couple shook the world and Uttar Pradesh, their home town in northern India, when 70-year-old Omkari gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl. At that time the family already had two daughters (the eldest of them was 50) and 5 grandchildren.
However, the couple desperately wanted to have a son – so they sold their cattle, mortgaged all their valuable possessions, collected their entire life savings and took a loan from the bank to pay for in vitro fertilization.
Unfortunately, one of the twins, the girl, died at the age of 4, but Akashvani is a normal healthy boy who likes to drive his parents crazy and attends school.
Omkari confesses that it’s not easy to be a mother of an energetic 6-yar-old when you are over 70. She has trouble running around after him, getting him dressed, feed and bathe him, etc. However, she also admits being absolutely happy about being a mother of a little boy. She says that it feels incredibly fascinating.
She is not afraid to leave the boy alone in case she dies soon, since she is sure that her 50-year daughter will take care of Akashvani. Nevertheless, Omkari still hopes to be alive when her son gets married.
