1. What has changed?

For years Twitter users have pleaded with the developers to expand the character limit for tweets. In late September 2017, the developers started offering a character limit that was twice as big as the old 140-character count. Now you can finally start tweeting in full sentences, without any contractions and without the need to divide your thoughts into several tweets.

However, there’s one catch: the new functionality is currently available only for a small part of Twitter users, and the others will need to wait until the official release sometime this autumn.

Thanks to a tiny tweak discovered by a savvy Twitter users, you can activate the 280-character limit within minutes. Here is what you need to do.

  1. Download and install the TamperMonkey extension for your Google Chrome.
  2. Open this script in your browser, click the Raw button, and finish the installation.
  3. That’s it – now you can create 280-character tweets without waiting for Twitter to officially unveil the function!
