Earlier this month, two of Nigeria’s hottest young music stars, Adekunle Gold and Simi, tied the knot. For a while, there were almost no photos released from the event. Luckily, recently some of the photos from the wedding came out, and here they are!

1. The ceremony
Simi and Adekunle wanted to get married in a private ceremony, but since they have so many relatives and friends who wanted to be included in the event, the wedding turned into a lavish ceremony for 300 guests.
Like many other Nigerian couples, Adekunle Gold and Simi had two wedding ceremonies: a traditional wedding and a white wedding. The traditional wedding took place in a beautiful venue that was decorated to the highest standard.
The white wedding was even more impressive. To make the event more memorable for the couple and the guests, Adekunle and Simi decided to hold the ceremony on the beach. Needless to say, everyone was delighted with the event!
2. The guests
Given the celebrity status of the happy couple, it’s not surprising that this wedding turned out to be a star-studded event. However, the guests respected Adekunle and Simi’s wishes for privacy and didn’t post any photos from the event.
Besides the family members and friends, the guests of the first celebrity wedding of 2019 included fellow music artistes: Olamide, Falz, Moelogo, Do2dtun, Praize, and dozens of other acclaimed members of the Nigerian music scene.
Both the traditional and white wedding clearly had colour themes. There were lots of blue and gold at both events, but many guests of the traditional wedding have also decided to go for the classic monochrome palette by wearing black and white outfits.
3. The newlyweds
Adekunle Gold and Simi never officially confirmed their relationship; for a long time, most fans thought the two musicians are simply close friends. This is why this wedding was not only the biggest possible declaration of love, but also a way to come out as a couple to the world.
A lot of effort went into planning the event and choosing the couple’s outfits for both ceremonies. For the traditional wedding, both Adekunle and Simi wore matching sky-blue outfits with native accessories.
For the white wedding, the happy newlyweds again chose matching clothing. This time it was Simi’s white wedding gown and Adekunle’s white three-piece suit with a white shirt and white pocket square.
One of the reasons why Simi and Adekunle Gold protected the privacy of their wedding was their desire to be the ones to announce their new status to the world. The result was a music video for Promise, a song performed by the couple.
In the video, Simi and Adekunle are seen in their wedding outfits on a beach, as well as before and after the wedding ceremony. Needless to say, the video turned out to be very touching and has already scored millions of views on YouTube:
