1. Buhari’s chief of staff
One of the top aides to President Muhammadu Buhari, his chief of staff Abba Kyari, has tested positive to coronavirus last week. The media reports that Kyari is in a serious condition and has been transferred from Abuja to Infectious Disease Treatment Centre in Lagos. Three of Kyari’s staffers have also tested positive to the disease.

Earlier this month, Abba Kyari returned from visits to Egypt and Germany, and it is widely believed he could have been infected there. It was also reported that Kyari had a severe coughing fit at a meeting with the President and other top officials in the country, which is why there are now fears for Nigeria’s political elite.
2. Davido’s fiancée
Last week, Davido used his Twitter account to share the news of his fiancée Chioma Rowland testing positive for COVID-19. The singer revealed that he recently came back from the USA after cancelling his tour and Chioma returned from London with their son.

Given that there was a risk of being infected while travelling abroad, Davido, his family, and members of his crew decided to get tested for coronavirus. Chioma’s test came back positive, but Davido said his fiancée and their baby are doing just fine and are not displaying any symptoms.
3. Atiku Abubakar’s son
The former Vice President of Nigeria and one-time presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar took to Twitter last week to reveal that one of his sons has been diagnosed with the coronavirus. The son, who has not been named, is receiving treatment at the Gwagwalada Specialist Teaching Hospital in Abuja.
Atiku Abubakar could not contain his worries as he asked the nation to keep his son in his prayers. He also stated that the coronavirus problem was real and encouraged fellow Nigerians to stay safe. Numerous Twitter users, including Nigerian celebrities, reached out to comfort Abubakar.
4. Nigerians in self-isolation
The number of Nigerian celebrities and politicians who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 remains low, as is the overall number of Nigerians infected with the coronavirus.
