After being postponed from 2020 to 2021, the Olympic Games are expected to take place in Tokyo from July 23 to August 8 of this year. The event will happen behind close doors and with all the possible COVID-19 precautions in place, but we can look forward to live streaming it or watching it later on TV.

2. Joe Biden’s inauguration
The 2020 US Presidential election was watched by millions of people outside of America, and this year, it will get a satisfying finish. On January 20, 2021, Joe Biden will be sworn into office. People have high hopes for his presidency, which is why it’s going to be a big event both for the US and non-US citizens.
3. 6G technology
The 5G technology has been welcomed by people around the world, but it has also become a controversial subject since many people seem to believe in adverse effect from 5G. The good news is that science is moving forward and this year, Japan and Korea are expected to make huge advances in developing 6G technology for an even faster connection.
4. Friends reunion
If you’re one of the endless Friends fans, there is some good news for you. The iconic sitcom, which announced a reunion show in 2020, postponed the filming for obvious reasons. The filming is expected to resume in March of 2021, so hopefully, we will see it before the end of the year.
5. COVID-19 immunity
With over 85 million people infected with the coronavirus to date, the disease does not yet show any signs of slowing down. However, with more people successfully overcoming the virus, the collective immunity will also become more widespread. Plus, COVID-19 vaccination will take place in Nigeria and other countries, which is also expected to make things better.

6. The Queen’s 95th birthday
On April 21, Queen Elizabeth II will celebrate her 95th birthday. There probably won’t be any huge celebrations in the streets due to COVID restrictions, but we are sure the Queen will have a lovely small gathering with her family while we can cheer on her from our own homes.
7. UEFA Euro Championship
This is another huge sporting event that was postponed from 2020 to 2021 so that the organizers could figure out a better way to keep everyone safe. The 2021 UEFA Euro Championship will take place in 12 different locations, and it’s extra special because it commemorates the 60th anniversary of the event.
8. New Mars rover
In February, a new rover called Perseverance will land on Mars to further explore the planet. Designed by NASA, Perseverance will join the small but proud family of rovers who have already been to Mars and brought back valuable knowledge about our space neighbour.
9. Movies and TV shows
Besides the Friends reunion, there have been many movies and TV shows that were postponed to 2021, so this year, we are getting more to watch than ever. From Black Widow, the new Bond film, and Matrix 4 to new Marvel TV shows, there will be plenty to enjoy on our screens in 2021.
10. Masks may be unnecessary
Masks are one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and right now, people are urged to wear masks in public at all times. However, once 50% to 70% of the citizens are vaccinated, mask wearing may no longer mandatory, so we should look forward to vaccination rolling out.
