The New Year has come, and it’s time to sum up the results of the old one. 2016 was full of celebrity deaths and controversial political decisions, but also great movies and TV shows. So, let’s forget all the bad staff and concentrate on all the fun and joy last year has brought us. Enjoy your favorite TV shows with Jiji!
American Crime Story
From the creators of an American Horror Story, this TV show is an anthology series, which explores the real and most brutal crimes, committed in America and trials, that followed them. This season explored the case of The People v. O. J. Simpson – an American football player, prosecuted for the murder of his wife and her lover. The show was praised for its realism, great depiction of the United States in the 90s and amazing performances by Cuba Gooding Jr. and David Schwimmer.
A second season is already in development and it will focus on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow
This new addition to a DC TV Universe follows the story of the team of superheroes (and villains too) trying to stop the big bad guy through the whole course of history and all around the world. Often referred as a Justice League of the small screen, his show offers a whole lot of fun both for comic book fans and someone, who is not that familiar with DC Universe. Although the series is action-packed, it focuses on character development and it has a great story to tell.
Marvel’s Luke Cage
Another representative of the comic book world, this time a part of Marvel Universe, this show explores the adventures of Luke Cage, Marvel’s first black superhero. This show may not be as good as previous Netflix original series, based on Marvel characters (like Daredevil), but it certainly has more soul in it, it is really atmospheric.
Stranger Things
This hot Netflix original is a clear homage to horror movies of 80s and Steven Spielberg films. Constant tension, gripping story, cool atmosphere, complete even by the logo of the show and a young cast, which unexpectedly did a very good job, make the series into a unique experience you don’t want to miss.
Westworld
This new HBO show is now often called new Game of Thrones, and it totally deserved this name. Its story follows the park, made for people to let their steam off, full of androids. This show, made by Jonathan Nolan and J. J. Abrams, is full of plot twists, shootings, nudity and Wild West atmosphere. It forces the viewer to think, which is always great, and its ending may be the most satisfying thing of 2016. Its great visual style also deserves to be watched on a TV with the best quality possible.
Lucifer
This addition to DC Universe stands on its own, as it explores the adventures of the Devil himself on the streets of Los Angeles. This TV show is made mostly for people, who have lost their faith in religion, as Lucifer often explores the worst in humans. But it also explores the development of humanity and what it is really all about – to be human.
Preacher
Another religion-based science-fiction show explores the situation, in which a catholic priest, Jesse Custer, is grunted with a great power – he can command people to do whatever he tells them to. The show is full of moral problems and religious search of truth, as well as gore and massacre.
