1. Plunger

One of the most unexpected ways to fix a dent in a car is using a simple bathroom plunger, although there are also special car dent plungers. This method only works on large dents that are hollow underneath and don’t have any creases or additional elements.

When you are ready to give your car a neat look, just apply the plunger to the center of the dent and pop it up. It may take you several attempts to achieve the desired effect, but this method is really foolproof.

2. Toothpaste

At car repair shops, mechanics use a special compound for removing the scratches from the car’s surface, but you don’t need an expensive professional product to achieve the same flawless look of your car. All you need is regular toothpaste and a soft cloth.

Put a small dab of toothpaste on the scratch and rub the toothpaste into the surface using a cloth in circular motions until the scratch disappears. For an even stronger effect, you can use some whitening toothpaste due to its abrasive properties.

3. Hammer

If the dent on your car is located in a place that you can easily reach from the inside, here is a dent repairing method that will work for you perfectly. You will need a smaller hammer if you have a tiny dent and a larger mallet if the dent is bigger in size.

To use this method, simply tap the hammer from the inside of the car until the dent disappears. It’s best to take it slow and constantly check the state of the dent to avoid bending the metal the other way.

4. Sandpaper

In case you noticed a scratch on your car’s bodywork and want to fix it at home, first you need to make sure the scratch is not too deep. To do it, run your fingernail over the scratch. If your fingernail catches on the scratch, it means the scratch is too deep and needs to be fixed in a body shop.

If the scratch is shallow, you can use some 2000 or 3000 grit sandpaper to remove it. Take a piece of sandpaper, wet the area of the scratch with water, and rub in light circular motions until the scratch disappears. Make sure to wet the area again if it becomes dry.

5. Candle wax

If you’ve just noticed a scratch on your car’s surface and need it to look perfect as soon as possible, you can use this temporary solution. It will only conceal the scratch for a short period of time, which means then you will still need to use some long-term solution.
